The Woman Behind Techie Tay

Chante Stewart-Wallace was born in Trenton, New Jersey but was raised in Pasadena, California. She is a scholar, business entrepreneur, computer scientist, and a traveling poet. She partners with her sister in their business Passing The Baton LLC where she teaches entry level business and web development. In addition, she is the owner of Beads N’ Beauty Shop which is a small e-commerce business that strives to push natural products and body positive mindsets. 

Faced with many odds stacked against her, Chante moved back to New Jersey at the age of 14 where she was taken custody of by her sister and ultimately forced to adapt outside of her element. At the age of 17, Chante was homeless and staying where she could while still finishing her Senior year of high school and applying to colleges.

With will power and the dream to never struggle again, Chante was enrolled at Montclair State University. Maintaining 2 jobs, a position on the track team, co-founding the campus organization titled LadiesFIRST and going to school full time, she was able to finish her degree in Computer Science in 4 years. Not satisfied by the accomplishment, she continued her education at Montclair State and has recently graduated with her Masters in Computer Science. With much promise after her thesis paper, Chante hopes to continue her research on a PhD level in the coming years.

Chante is now working harder than ever to be like the people that helped her throughout her journey. Through the power of speaking up and helping those coming up behind her get the same access to resources and mentor-ship that has molded her into Techie Tay.
